Research perspective
My research focuses on climate impacts, risks and adaptation to climate change, mainly in mountain and high-mountain regions. To adequately approach these research fields an interdisciplinary perspective is particularly important. Some more specific research topics include glacier and other mountain hazards such as glacier lake outburst floods, avalanches and landslides; volcano-ice interactions; hazard, vulnerability and risk assessments; integrated monitoring and early warning systems and research into socio-environmental systems.
Geographic research areas include the European Alps, the Andes, Alaska, Caucasus, and Himalaya.
